Aphelinus mali Haldemann |
Order: Hymenoptera Family:Aphelinidae |
Common name / Category:Parasitoid of apple woolly aphid Eriosoma lanigerum |
Aphelinus mali has been introduced from England. It has been first colonized in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). Subsequently it has spread to all the apple growing areas where Eriosoma lanigerum is a serious problem. |
Production procedure |
The parasitoid is produced on the potted plants of apple which are first infested with Eriosoma lanigerum and then exposed to Aphelinus mali. The parasitoid has not been produced on a large scale but sufficient quantities are produced for inoculative releases. |
